Priorities Agreed March 2000
- Earlier diagnosis procedure and better education of GPs working closely with them raising awareness and improving education.
- A community outreach worker who could support people in the community and help them to remain in their own homes. This post would be very useful to people in the very early stages of the disease and would support the families of the person with dementia.
- Provision of good quality domiciliary care with staff who were trained in dementia care and who were socially acceptable.
- Provision of specialist admission and respite units such as Merevale.
- Extension of specialist services already provided �e.g, the provision of one day per week specialist daycare by the Alzheimer’s Society at Barras Court.
- Availability of specialist information
